Cottage Cheese and Stone Ground Mustard

Filed under: The Kid - Foosh @ 3:15 pm

One of the many joys of a newborn is experiencing how his body processes food. The funny thing is that it looks very different coming out then it did going in. (Avoid reading further on a full stomach)

For example:
At this point in his young life his poo (which I see several times a day) strongly resembles stone ground mustard. I very much enjoy mustard but may have to avoid the stone ground kind for some time.

Early this morning the little guy was being pretty fussy. In an attempt to get a couple more hours of sleep I put him on my chest and patted his back until he calmed down and fell asleep. It worked and we both slept for another hour. When I got up to go to work I noticed a cottage cheese like substance on my chest and then realized he had ’spit up’ (the infant term for blowing chunks).

More food like descriptions to come…

  1. All I can say is both of our boys had Jaundice, which means there livers weren’t working great when they were born. Nothing to serious but when the liver starts working it releases a chemical causing thick black tar like poop. It is disgusting and sticky. See thats whats great about kids…just think to yourself it could always be worse. By the way you are an official parent now that you’ve found tricky ways to get that coveted extra hour of sleep and your talking about poop. :)

  2. Yeah that poo you’re talking about is called meconium and I’m glad that’s done with, made me glad for the stone ground mustard poo.

  3. Ya its sort of like meconium but it lasts longer and is from something different. Don’t you like the deep discussion you can have about poop. Lol!
