Of poop and calzones

Filed under: The Kid - Jess @ 9:51 pm

I was eating dinner cross legged on the floor, (keeps Jude content for longer if he thinks I’m actually playing with him instead of eating a yummy homemade calzone) Jude was rolling over toward the sliding glass patio door, having a good time, smiling his adorable smile at me…and while I contemplated his cuteness my eyes drifted toward a mark on the floor- that familiar mustard brown color…and then to another mark, and yet another…until I realized as he rolled he left a smelly little poo stain on the green carpet behind him! I must not have heard him fill his pants to overflowing otherwise I could have avoided the 30 minute cleaning session that followed. But did I mention the calzone was really yummy?!:)

Back from Washington

Filed under: Excursions - Jess @ 3:57 pm

Jude and I are back from our trip to Washington…he did amazing on the plane- he acted like it was the most fun thing and loved flirting with as many girls as he could!:) We loved spending time with my parents, grandparents, and the rest of my big wonderful family. Jude had fun playing with my cousin’s baby Aiden who is 5 months old, as well as my friend Erika’s baby Audrey- 2 months old. Erika and I went to high school together and were laughing at how fast the time has gone since then and how much as happened.
We went to Jude’s first little kid birthday party for my other cousin’s daughter Cadence who turned one year old! Jude loved playing with her and her sister Autumn- such cute girls! Our days were full and fun and the time went so fast- I loved spending time with everyone. Jude also sprouted his first tooth while we were up there and is now sitting up on his own!
For some reason I erased a bunch of great pictures before I could upload them for your viewing pleasure, so I’ll just post a few that I still have.

Thailand

Filed under: General - Jess @ 10:36 am

The Fouche family is going to Thailand!

In just a little over a month we’ll be heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand to work with local churches and hill tribes in northern Thailand. This is the first mission of this kind to go out from First Covenant Church in it’s almost 80 years of existence. We are excited about leading this multi-generational team of 17 people. If you want to read more and see the names of the team members than go to www.fcceureka.org and click on the Thailand link.

What we need:
Prayer: Traveling with a baby on a 14 hour plane ride will be a challenge. There are other prayer requests listed on the church web site.
Finances: We have almost half of the $3100 needed to go. Most of this money is airfare (Jude will be kicking it on our laps) and the remainder goes toward food, lodging, and some community development projects we’ll be doing in the hill tribes. We could use your support in partnering with us through financial sponsorship.
Flexibility: The culture in East Asia is vastly different than anything in North America and there is bound to be things that come up. Recently Thailand experienced a non-violent coup so it’ll be interesting to see how that has affected things in the country.

Father’s Day

Filed under: Thoughts on... - Jess @ 6:53 pm

I’m writing this from Washington where Jude and I are staying with my parents and visiting family and friends. We’re having a great time, even though we miss Andrew- he had t0 stay back and work, and of course golf and grill copious amounts of beef.
I’ve heard a great saying- that the best thing a man can do for his kids is to love his wife. We’re only 7 months into Jude’s childhood but Andrew and I both agree we want to be careful to work at our marriage as much as ever and keep our relationship growing and thriving so that it will stand the test of time, and, well, sleep depravation, etc.! I’m so thankful to have not only an amazing husband but the best father I could have dreamed of for our children. Jude is truly blessed to be able to grow up with such a daddy!
Happy Father’s day to my wonderful Papa too- I love you!
