Thailand
The Fouche family is going to Thailand!
In just a little over a month we’ll be heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand to work with local churches and hill tribes in northern Thailand. This is the first mission of this kind to go out from First Covenant Church in it’s almost 80 years of existence. We are excited about leading this multi-generational team of 17 people. If you want to read more and see the names of the team members than go to www.fcceureka.org and click on the Thailand link.
What we need:
Prayer: Traveling with a baby on a 14 hour plane ride will be a challenge. There are other prayer requests listed on the church web site.
Finances: We have almost half of the $3100 needed to go. Most of this money is airfare (Jude will be kicking it on our laps) and the remainder goes toward food, lodging, and some community development projects we’ll be doing in the hill tribes. We could use your support in partnering with us through financial sponsorship.
Flexibility: The culture in East Asia is vastly different than anything in North America and there is bound to be things that come up. Recently Thailand experienced a non-violent coup so it’ll be interesting to see how that has affected things in the country.

I thought airlines required child seats a while back. Has that changed?
WoW. This is coming up fast!

They don’t anymore- and here’s something crazy- they don’t allow you to keep your baby in a sling during takeoff and landing! I had Jude in the sling all safe and snug and they made me take him out, after giving the little talk about everyone buckling up for the ride..I was a little peeved b/c it’s a lot safer for him to be secure on me than just on my lap but oh well.
The trip to Thailand should be an adventerous one to say the least!:)

Jess ~ That makes no sense (not being allowed in the sling)! Is he allowed in your sling after take-off? I hope you can get a seat with some leg room - cause that helps a lot. I travelled with Sarah and Ben when Ben was 8 months old. He was such an easy-going baby, but it still wasn’t easy. Sarah charmed everyone on the plane(s). You’ve got a LONG flight to get through. Thankfully, you have a great husband/daddy to help!
