Goodbye California!

Filed under: General - Jess @ 3:42 pm

Earlier this year Jess and I both felt a stirring in our hearts that God may be calling us to a new chapter in our lives. We started to pray and listen. To make a long story short, we will be leaving Humboldt County (my homeland) to take a position in Liberty Lake, WA – which is just outside of Spokane - as the Pastor of Youth & Worship.

This will be a big move for us, but we know without a doubt that it’s where God is calling us. We’ll miss all of our family and friends (not to mention the beach) but will always be coming back here for a visit. We’ll be heading out in a month and will fill you in on details as they develop.

Monday Morning

Filed under: Excursions - Foosh @ 8:24 pm

There is something about a sunny Humboldt day at the beach that revives a part of my heart. I can’t explain what it is but the smell, feel, and look of it stirs my soul like nothing else can. It’s all I need to have no doubt in the fact there is a God and he infinitely cares about me.

This is what we did this morning on my day off. Enjoy and don’t get too jealous.

Quote of the Day:)

Filed under: The Kid - Jess @ 5:22 pm

If I had my child to raise all over again,
I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging and less tugging.

Wedding pics

Filed under: General - Jess @ 7:13 pm

As promised, some pictures from Sarah & Damieon’s wedding will follow. They were married on Saturday night- a beautiful, unique, fun wedding- in a barn with strings of white lights and all different kinds of flowers everywhere. Sarah was a *gorgeous* bride who was so happy she was glowing, Damieon & the guys (including my sweet hubby) looked dashing in their black tux’s. Us bridesmaids wore black & white polka dot tops with black skirts & pearl necklaces- so fun! Andrew & I had so much fun being a part of their wedding & celebrating with them- they are perfect together & we truly couldn’t be happier for them!
Congrats on your new life, Mr. & Mrs. Foster! The wedding was amazing- a beautiful expression of who you are!
(Thanks again, Anna, for hanging out with Jude- he said he had tons of fun playing with you! Click on the link to Anna & Dave’s blog for all of their wedding pics…)

Happy September!

Filed under: General - Jess @ 1:25 pm

Well the leaves are already starting to turn golden and September is officially here…the weather still feels like summer though. After a fun BBQ on Monday Andrew, Jude, and I went to the beach and were amazed at how warm it was- no wind (rare for around here), beautiful sunny evening with the waves crashing in. Jude’s not a fan of cold water but LOVED crawling in the sand and sifting it through his fingers! He was covered in sand by the time we left and we vowed to go again as many times as we can while the weather is so nice.
Sarah and Damieon’s wedding is coming up Saturday- yay!!! They are getting married in a very cool, very rustic barn- in the evening, all lit up with white lights. We are so excited for them! We’ll post some pictures of the big day next week.
