Peach harvest
Here’s our harvest of peaches from the backyard tree!

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was painting the downstairs a shade called ‘African Amber’. We were a little skeptical of the pop of color it gave- sort of a peachy, orangy, different-in-whatever-light color. But we’ve grown to love it and I had a friend ask for the name because she liked it so much- very relieving! Excuse the poorly taken pictures!
Here’s the laundry area before…
And after:
Here’s the before and after pictures of the sitting area
(the other half of the room has our desk, table and chairs, and space for playing)…
Now to enlist a little help- if anyone has some curtain (color or style) ideas feel free to throw them down in the comments- I don’t mind making them, and I don’t want to spend a lot of money on them! Any suggestions?
And just because he’s so darn cute…
Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have
always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.

Summer is winding down for us complete with a little rain and cool weather. It feels refreshing to me and I think I’m ready for fall- I love change and I love seasons. We’ve had a lovely summer though…
Catching up from the week before last…
Our family cabin is set up in the Blue Mountains surrounding the small town of Dayton where my papa grew up and the surrounding farm land. The cabin was built years ago by my papa and his 2 brothers.

The water we drink while at the cabin runs through a pipe out into a tiny stream- the water is as clear and good as any I’ve tried, although it took Andrew a minute to be convinced that it was safe to drink!

I have endless memories of walks, camp fires, picking huckleberries for pancakes, and watching the sun set in a particular meadow that we re-explored this trip as well.
My parents waiting for the sun to start setting…

Jude loved playing in the dirt and with any sort of stick or branch he could find…

The other three Fooshes:)…

Our reward was a beautiful sun set- painting the sky below it a perfect shade of orange…
Can’t wait to go back next summer!

We said goodbye to Trish and Rachel this morning- so glad they could come visit. The weather finally changed to some sun for their last day or so here. We walked around the docks yesterday soaking it in…
Jude loved watching all the boats.
Off to tackle the laundry.
Happy Saturday everyone!
Lots of fun this week with Trish and Rachel…
The product of our sushi party turned out delicious!
Our weather this week has gone from over 100 degrees to thunder showers in the low 60’s with hail! Pretty crazy. Things in the garden are growing really well though- here’s one of our pumpkins growing bigger…
Our peaches are turning ripe and the tree is loaded with fruit…
We welcomed Andrew’s mom and sister here with record weather! It’s been in the upper 90’s and got up to 102 on Sunday! Last night thunder storms ushered in some cooler weather, in the low 70’s- I think they are a little relieved!:) We went to a friends house on lake Hayden on Sunday afternoon for a BBQ, they had a boat, jet skis (Andrew gave rides to his mom and sis- accidentally tipped his mom over but she still had fun!:), kayaks, and lovely water for swimming. Yesterday and today are shopping days for the girls, as there are a lot more stores here than in Eureka. Tonight- sushi party! My method for making sushi rice is super easy and yummy- click here for the basic recipe. We’ll be having some avocado/yam/cucumber/carrot rolls (so good with yam- a little sweetness to contrast the salty seaweed and soy sauce) as well as Andrew’s favorite- smoked salmon and cream cheese. Oh yum!
Also- we tasted our very first ripe peach from our peach tree in the backyard- it tasted great! Soon there will be peach jam, pies, crisps, and smoothies crankin’ out of the Fouche kitchen!
We just got back earlier today from our family cabin in Eastern Washington about 2 1/2 hours away. We got to see my Aunt Helen and my Grandad who is 93 and looking great!
My Mum was here all last week and we had a wonderful time hanging out with her and spending lots of quality time together. She’s a very fun Gramma- Jude always picks up new words and songs from her and calls her ‘Mi-maw’. A few pics from last week…

Tonight Andrew’s mom Trish and sister Rachel flew in from Eureka for the week- yay!! I’ll be posting pictures of our cabin and time there soon as well as pictures from our time with Gramma Trish and Aunty Ray-Ray. Stay tuned!
