Patience & Gentleness

Two things I need lots more of! When it comes to mothering, I need as much self discipline to be consistent in my words and actions as possible. One way I remind myself of the qualities I’m working on is to have them written out and memorize scripture that goes along with the quality. I learned a long time ago that it’s not in striving to be the woman I want to be, but in having the closest possible relationship with Jesus as I can that I become who He created me to be. Still, we all need ‘gentle reminders’ to help us along. So… on my fridge are the definition of the words patience and gentleness and the scriptures that follow. Above all, today I’m thankful for God’s grace and love, and his patience with me- a patience that has no end because of His love for us. That alone is inspiring!

Patience:
1. The capacity for calmly enduring difficult situations.
2. The ability to wait calmly for something to happen without complaining or giving up
3. Even tempered care; without complaint, loss of temper, or irritation.

*”Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…” Psalm 37:7
*”Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Gentleness:
Intentional mildness, not harsh or rough.

*”The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:19-23
*”Let your gentleness be evident to all” Philippians 4:5
