what do you do with 24 lbs of tomatoes?
24 lbs of tomatoes picked by us on Friday became
one huge batch of some delicious spaghetti sauce…

…and four jars of garden fresh salsa with 3 kinds of peppers.

Not pictured: some sweet & tart strawberries that were frozen for
smoothies and spooned over waffles this morning! It’s been a good eatin’ weekend!! Knowing where our food comes from and making things from scratch: very, very rewarding.
We are enjoying some family time this weekend before the fun and craziness of our fall schedule starts up again. On Saturday night we went to see the Spokane Symphony play a free concert in the park- it was so awesome sitting on blankets with our friends as the sun set and the music filled the air. Jude danced and commented that the trumpet solo ’sounded like a storm’. It’s cool and cozy today and fall is in the air- I love it! We’re sipping on coffee while Jude dances to Beatles music and contemplating what we’ll be doing today. What have you been doing with your holiday weekend?

Sounds like a great family weekend. WE just got back from Lea’s. Had a fun time with all of them. We watched Alana today as she took her second horseback riding lesson. She loves horses and did so well.
Your tomato sauce and salsa looks yummy!! We’ll have to sample it this winter!! Love to all!

Do you freeze the tomato sauce and salsa? (Our daughter is in your Mom’s kindergarten class this year, Abby was a couple of years ago. She introduced me to your blog when your latest addition was born. I love reading your entries and am often inspired!)

Hi Tammy! I do freeze both- you can freeze them in plastic ziplocks to lay or stack flat if you don’t have much freezer room. I found my spaghetti sauce recipe online (can’t remember where now!) and tweaked a little to my own liking. Glad you read the blog! My mom is excited to have your daughter in her class this year.
