Now reading
Honey for a Child’s Heart- ‘The imaginative use of books in family life’, this book helps weed through the many, many books available to find the ones that will enrich, inspire, and engage young readers.
Mission of Motherhood- I’m half way through this book but already so inspired.
The Little Engine That Could- original edition. I’ve notice Jude talking about this book as he plays with his Thomas the trains set- saying as his trains go up the hill, ‘I think I can, I think I can!’
We’ve also been into borrowing books on tape for Jude- recently in the car he likes to chant ‘caps, caps for sale!’ but his favorite so far is Babar, which he often requests to listen to when he’s going to sleep. I’m planning on recording Andrew and I reading other stories or ones we make up to let him listen to as he’s falling asleep, which takes what seems like forever most nights. Why not use that time to let him listen to our voices reading books that will inspire and encourage his little heart and growing curiosity about the world?
(Grandparents and family~ this would be a most wonderful birthday or Christmas gift idea, as we are trying to control the toy clutter and love to foster the long distance relationships!! For those of you musically inclined- you know who you are- songs and music would be so fun as well!!!)

Your mom just read “Leo the Late Bloomer” tonight at parent night. I love that book! I was a late bloomer, so I have soft place in my heart for those who are too. A good book to listen to as our 2nd born enters kindergarten and is so different than our first born. I would love to listen to Mrs. Radebaugh read to me while I try and fall asleep!
Love your creative gift idea!

Jess you are such an inspiring mommy. I have many moms that I know who have lots of children and experience but honestly I get so much inspiration and creativity for you. God has given you wisdom beyond your years and experience. You are rich in creativity and ideas from the Holy Spirit. God is giving you huge downloads from heaven. Love it!

I love that book too Tammy! I’ll have to add that one to our collection.
Jenney- thanks for the encouragement! So many days I know I’m at the end of myself (and of my patience, my creativity, my softness toward a 2 year old’s strong will) and I realize over and over again that it’s God who inspires, He has the never ending flow of patience and creativity and love if I will only look at things with His perspective!!! Hope you have a wonderful day with your boys!

jess this is great.
great books that you are reading too.
we have been working on building a collection of recorded readings over the past years. it is especially fun when daddy is gone for work and we can pull out his recorded readings. we have also now returned the gift and are giving the recorded readings while with our children back to the reader with a copy of the book. what is your favorite book to read to each of your boys?
